But I don't take rejections personally. I always figure someone will want them and a rejection only means they're available to submit elsewhere. Read the guidelines carefully before you submit and know which journals aren't for you. Good luck!
Charlotte, would it be ok if I shared links to Ed Lyons Poetry on your account? I have 17 already posted and hundreds ready to go. Each has its own emotional range, and they can be quite long, which is one reason why I chose Substack. I just want them to be enjoyed. Of course I'll read your student's work and be supportive and encouraging. I don't do critiques. Critiques teach her how not to write. The Dubliner Yvonne Cullen is the best teacher I've ever seen in my life. I signed up for her workshop so I could see her do it. She had them on a lonely island in the West of Ireland and she gave them their assignments and she sat down with them and talked about the writing and she just brings out the best in them. I had to submit writing samples like everyone else. So I sent along one of my books. If Yvonne Cullen says you're great, believe her.
