Now it's back to basics, back to reality "sheesh"

Imagination had me battling me

And the fact of the matter is a lack of belief

Built up a self-imposed prison, felt my passion decrease

But that isn't me, it's time to get back to the grind again

Past left behind, my path actually align with it

Find my reflection in the glass, that was my intent

I question the path. If I ask, will you brighten it?

Cuz when the light is lit, and I can see the way

Start beaming now I'm screaming "Carpe Diem" while I seize the day

People say how you do it, I tell em' it ain't no easy way

Don't ever stop believing and always say what you need to say

Or hit your knees and pray, and let your worry go

Just trust it, never rush it brother what you in a hurry for?

Cuz when the timings divine you're gon' surely know

Lines from my mind, listen I don't think they heard me though

I love this authentic reflection on your experience of deepening your relationship with yourself. I LOVE words. I love reading them. I love hearing them. I love being stirred by them.

Thank you for sharing your film images!! I am contemplating getting back into my black and white film camera. Haven’t done it for years but it is calling me again. I’m a Melbourne girl, great pic in Fitzroy 🩷🌀

I totally relate to the misconception and notion of rules to writing. To some extent I think we are programmed that way. We learn the rules in grade school — to seek the approval of grades, our peers, and our parents. I think what’s lost is the ability to truly connect to words and allow them to be our mirrors: a sculpture through which we can carve our inner landscape.

Thank you for sharing 🫶🏼

Thank you Ayla. I agree! It’s so important to write from a place that feels right for you, and less so for the viewing of others (although when your work resonates with other people it can feel lovely too).

ahh, yes, absolutely. The power of being seen and mirrored in community is unmatched—especially in seasons of healing and reclamation.

Grateful for your reflection 💜

It's a difficult mindset to put the reader on the back burner. There is still hope that someone will read it. Writing to release ( and sometimes make pets of) the inner demons always seems far more satisfying. No one goes through the exact same life, but we have a connection that helps heal more than just the writer.

If poetry becomes a channel for a deeper understanding of ourselves, others and the world around us it has the power for transcendence, not only for the poetbut also for their readers.

I think these are the spaces the most beautiful writing emerges from, between here and there, we care but we don't care, the writing is ours but becomes something for all of us.

Everything, just absolutely everything about your 3rd paragraph is SO REAL. The intention you craft something with, especially something as artistic and at times personal as writing, does matter, and it shouldn't be done for the wrong reasons of simply wanting people to look at it and give validation. Your piece makes me feel seen. Thank you for putting into words what I've felt endlessly for years 🤍
